The Content Strategist Role

The Content Strategist actively plans, designs, creates, edits, and publishes relevant content based on the customer objectives and users' needs. The strategist's main job is to develop a content strategy that conforms and sets out to achieve business goals. Strategically develop content that aims to inform, inspire and engage potential customers.


  • Performing exhaustive research to gain in-depth knowledge of all customer personas

  • Performing extensive research and analysis on consumer thoughts and trends

  • Creating specifications and content appropriate for the brand's customer personas

  • Ensuring that content strategy meets business objectives

  • Strategizing content pillars and sub pillars

  • Spearheads tasks regarding content as well as editorial strategy

  • Develop creative ways to engage the target audience and produce those engaging content types

  • Ensure all content aligns with the brand and adds value to the client

  • Drive inbound traffic into the brand website and encourage the reader to take a profitable business action

  • Manages all content creation, revision, and retention across multiple platforms

  • Identify stories needing updating and revisions, as well as formulating a workable content roadmap

  • Organizes the editorial calendar as well as manages incoming stories from writers into an easy-to-manage format

  • Edits and revises content like blog posts, press releases, articles and social post

  • Works with a team of writers, freelancers, and other contributors, and manages assignments

  • Identifies keywords for expansion on the site

  • Brainstorms with editorial team members to develop new ideas for content

  • Provides editorial support where needed

  • Planning the editorial calendar and content proposition

  • Collaborating with content management teams, creative teams, and writers to implement the strategy

  • Overseeing writing style and tone for all content

  • Developing content governance guidelines for tone, style, and voice of all content, and ensuring they are followed

  • Developing editorial strategy, so content is consistent across all delivery platforms

  • Conducting periodic content audits

  • Analyzing content marketing strategy to evaluate whether it's working or not


  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English or a related field

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • An appreciation for quality content and the ability to create it

  • Ability to multitask and take on multiple assignments

  • Comfortable working with data and spreadsheets when needed

  • Extensive new media editorial experience or a similar role

  • Adept at SEO best practices and keyword selection

  • Proficiency with multiple content management systems and analytics software
